Prestwick Airport suffered big drops in passengers and freight traffic, the Post reports. The number of passengers so far this year fell to 2,162,521 – a 3 percent drop on last year. Freight traffic in February was down by 56 percent on February 2008.
However, Central Ayrshire MP Brian Donohoe said: ‘Under the circumstances I would say that, particularly with passenger numbers, the airport is performing better than expected. I am keeping a close eye on the situation and will continue to have dialogue with both airport management and trade union representatives.’
