No evidence of torture flights at Glasgow Prestwick airport
25.11.05
Scotland's Lord Advocate, Colin Boyd, has told MSPs he had no evidence to order a police probe into claims that Glasgow Prestwick airport are being used to assist secret CIA 'torture flights'.
Human rights campaigners say the UK could be acting illegally by allowing Prestwick, Glasgow and other UK airports to be used for refuelling stops on flights they claim may be being used to take terror suspects to US-friendly regimes where torture can be used in interrogations.
Strathclyde Police has already refused a request by Green South of Scotland MSP Chris Ballance to investigate the claims, saying it cannot act on 'speculation'.
