Passengers down 6%

Prestwick Airport handled 154,006 passengers in November, a 6% drop on last year. This follows a 7% drop in October and a 4% drop in September.
Local MP Brian Donohoe said that the current financial climate is to blame for the decline, but is optimistic that the airport can ride the storm. He said: ‘We know that people are tightening their belts. We know too that Britain and other economies expect to start growing again by 2010. I am confident that Prestwick can ride out the next year and then continue to build on the success it has achieved thus far.’
