Passengers up 1% in October
19.11.07
Prestwick Airport handled 228,893 passengers in October, up 1% on 2006 and a 2% increase on September's passenger total.
As last month, the passenger growth stemmed from Ryanair's Riga and Derry services and Wizz Air's Katowice route, all introduced in the last 12 months. Again, this was partly offset by lower passenger numbers on domestic services to London.
During the month Ryanair launched a new daily service to Belfast City Airport, with a twice weekly service to Kaunas in Lithuania also taking off at the end of the month.
Prestwick also handled 2,617 tonnes of freight in October, a 5% increase on September's total but 9% down on the prior year. The year to date freight volume remains ahead of the equivalent period in 2006 by 3%.
