Passengers down 1% in September

Prestwick Airport handled a 223,617 passengers in September, a drop of 1% compared to the same month last year. Local rival Glasgow Airport also reported passengers down in September, falling by 0.8%.
A statement by the airport said that growth in services to Riga and Derry, both introduced in late 2006, offset Stansted services under performing against the prior year. The airport handled 2,480 tonnes of freight - 5% down on the prior year, however year to date freight volume is 6% ahead of the equivalent period in 2006.
