Prestwick Airport closed by security alert

A police operation has been launched after a Ryanair plane was diverted to Prestwick Airport following a security alert. The airport, which is around 30 miles from Glasgow city centre, was closed for more than two hours because of the incident.
It is understood that the Ryanair plane was travelling from Paris to Dublin, but had to be diverted to Prestwick becuase of the alert. No flights were able to leave the airport as the incident continued, while flights due to land were being diverted to other airports.
