Prestwick Airport suffered another sharp fall in the number of passengers in January. 103,188 passengers used the Ayrshire airport in the month, down 22% on January 2009. In the 10 months to the end of January 1,488,638 passengers flew in or out of Prestwick, down 26% on the same period previous year.
Operations in the month were affected by the very bad weather, although Prestwick benefited from this in some cases, with flights from other airports diverting to the hub. Local rival Glasgow Airport reported passengers down 12.2% in January.
