Passenger decline slows

Passenger numbers at Prestwick Airport recovering, the Ayrshire Post reports. August numbers showed a small slowing of the recent decline, with 181,873 people using the airport, 29% down on last year. Freight volumes for August were up on recent months, with 1332 tonnes handled, only 5% down on last year.
The news comes after last month’s figures revealed numbers had dropped by 66,000 in 12 months. The positive news was welcomed by Central Ayrshire MP Brian Donohoe, who thinks Prestwick may be over its slump.
